Microwaved water - one MUST read

Microwaved water - one MUST read

A 26-year old guy decided to have a cup of coffee. He took a cup of
water and put it in the microwave to heat it up (something that he had
done numerous times before).

I am not sure how long he set the timer for, but he told me he wanted
to bring the water to a boil. When the timer shut the oven off, he
removed the cup from the oven. As he looked into the cup, he noted
that the water was not boiling, but instantly the water in the cup
'blew-up' into his face.

The cup remained intact until he threw it out of his hand but all the
water had flown out into his face due to the build up of energy. His
whole face is blistered and he has 1st and 2nd degree burns to his
face, which may leave scarring. He also may have lost partial sight in
his left eye.. While at the hospital, the doctor who was attending to
him stated that this is fairly common occurrence and water (alone)
should never be heated in a microwave oven. If water is heated in this
manner, something should be placed in the cup to diffuse the energy
such as: a wooden stir stick, tea bag, etc. It is however a much safer
choice to boil the water in a teakettle.

General Electric's (GE) response:

Thanks for contacting us. I will be happy to assist you. The e-mail
that you received is correct. Micro waved water and other liquids do
not always bubble when they reach the boiling point. They can actually
get superheated and not bubble at all. The superheated liquid will
bubble up out of the cup when it is moved or when something like a
spoon or teabag is put into it. To prevent this from happening and
causing injury, do not heat any liquid for more than two minutes per
cup. After heating, let the cup stand in the microwave for thirty
seconds before moving it or adding anything into it.

O! Taak Pahije ka Taak!

O! Taak Pahije ka Taak!

I woke up just to realize that it was going on in my mind again and again though it was three days to this incident. It was the voice of this small little cute girl who wanted to sell Taak to me. Those innocent eyes, sweet little voice and a very humble approach! It was enough for me to get goose bumps even in my sleep.

I had been to Raigad fort last week and this little girl came to me and said "O! Taak Pahije ka Taak" She had a basket made of cane on her head with containers filled with buttermilk and accompanied by her cousins. For me and my friends who had been to this place, it would have been a great achievement, had we climbed the fort which is 2851 feet above the sea level having around 1450 steps. This girl carries this basket on her head from a village called Pachad located 3 kms away from the base of the fort. Walking 3 kms to the base of the fort and then climbing 1450 steps to come up and then sell buttermilk. This little 7 year old girl goes to school everyday and on all weekends & holidays carries this basket up to the fort just to earn a living for her family. Well for the first time I am experiencing goose bumps while typing. Though I did not want to have Taak but the voice of this little girl made me ask for one. I drank this as if I was really thirsty for a long time. The trigger was not to enjoy the taste but to respect the innocence of this little girl.

Later I did realize that I was really very thirsty. Yes, you heard it right, I was thirsty. A thirst of not having thanked the almighty for the blessing showered on me and my dear ones. We probably always keep on asking for more and more blessings. How may times do me take a moment to cherish the things that we have been blessed with and thank the almighty for them. It is indeed a thirst that many people have to quench.

Akkdu Bhaji

It was 7 am in the morning and I was helping mom cut vegetables. I was enjoying this activity. I guess the key driver was the eagerness to eat what is going to be prepared.

It was my sister's favorite sabji when she was a kid, even today it is. When she was a kid, she wanted to know what this preparation is called. My mom, because she had learnt to make this herself, had not given any name to it. Suddenly out of no where she came out with a name called Akkdu Bhaji! The name was something that was probably never thought of by anyone else. It was liked by everyone. From then, the name became very prominent in my house and Akkdu Bhaji is prepared often. Everybody in my house and relatives started liking this, very few were fond of the taste and others were simply attracted by the name. The name in itself was attractive enough that we used to eat it with the same spirit even if she forgot to put salt or missed any spices. Did my mom realize that she had created a Brand and every time we saw ladies finger the brand recall was a default.

A week back, I was ripped apart in my company's internal presentation. I was asked to present on Brand creation and I found it difficult to explain to the tech geeks in the audience. Probably today it struck me. A brand creation is nothing but a perception created for an object, person or service. I saw this happening almost 15 years back, but it struck me today that my mom is a good brand creator. We all must have created some or the other brand in our lives. Should we not list them and take the opportunity to be happy about it.

The emotional Dog - A Real Incident

I was walking down the lane this morning hours when I saw a dog, white is color, black eyes. Something attracted me towards him. I went near the dog only to find out that the dog had tears is his eyes. His face was wet because of tears. I felt, I got some power to understand the dog as if it were a human being. His face was filled with a lot of sad emotions as if he has lost everything. The dog stood up and crossed the lane to the other side. I followed the dog. The dog was actually trying to show me the reason for his sadness. I was shocked to see a dead body of another dog, brown in color, his eyes had come out of his head. Probably a fast moving vehicle must have hit him hard. This white dog showed me this body and then stared at me for about 5 minutes as if he were telling me something. Tears rolled down again. He was trying to cry aloud but he was not not able to. This incident had struck him so badly that he was not able to take out his voice. The dog then took the dead body by his mouth and dragged him to the middle of the road on the divider. The divider was broad and it was filled with soil. The dog started to dig the soil as if he was in some hurry. I stood by to watch the dog. Probably his hurry to dig the soil made me wait to see what was going to happen. Suddenly a crow came is full swing and took one eye of the dead body. The dog started digging faster and within seconds he had dug enough. He dragged he body into the pit and stood looking at it for about a minute. He got into the pit, licked the dead body on his head. It seemed to be his final good bye to his friend. He then covered his pit with the soil and sat over it.

I don't know what was this incident trying to teach me, but it was very touching.
